Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions about the Discount Calculator

Can I stack two discounts?+

Enter the first discount, then apply the resulting sale price as the 'original price' for a second calculation. Stacked discounts are multiplicative, not additive — two 10% discounts equal 19%, not 20%.

How do I work out the discount percentage from two prices?+

Use the Percentage Calculator's 'percentage decrease' option with the original price as the old value and the sale price as the new value.

Does the discount apply before or after tax?+

This calculator applies the discount to the price you enter. If tax is added afterward, enter your pre-tax price to get the pre-tax sale price, then apply tax separately.
